How many millionaires do we have here in Politics? What are your party affiliations?

I am not like a super rich guy...nice but nothing crazy house; 4 br, 3 bath pool home of 2,800 sq ft., 2006 Ford Expedition, 1999 Ford Taurus, married with one 10 yo boy...2 dogs and a cat...lol...I'm a software engineer making approx. $140k (including a ton of O/T)...anyway in sitting here reviewing/adjusting my 401k investment portfolio it just dawned on me that I am technically a millionaire (approx. $900K in my 401k and I easily have $200+K of home equity...i only owe about 140k and it'd would easily appraise above 400k)...it's kinda funny cause I am a little short in the checking account to pay my monthly car bill on time this month...lol...oh I am a Republican...college grad of course, and a former U.S. Marine

Remember the house is only perceived wealth as you have not sold it yet (econ 101) not saying it is going to happen but look at the houses in Michigan just a few years ago those people never thought their houses would be a hard sell at $1.00,

Definitely not trying to rain on your parade, celebrate being a millionaire and congrats.

I have a hard time myself not counting my house as money in the bank, but I remind myself of the econ classes I took in college and bring my head back under control. I have a similar house and own it outright. I probably have 20k wrapped up in guns alone

Never really thought about sitting down and figuring out what I am worth with my assets included, I try to just fix myself on what is in my bank account that way I won't be tempted to do something stupid.

I guess if I added up my assets I would go over a million, but that came from living with almost nothing while I was younger and saving every dime so I could afford to pay cash for my 1st house, then pay cash for my second house when I sold my 1st and then pay cash for my truck.

I don't own a credit card that has a balance on it. I only use it when a credit card is needed like for a car rental, everything else comes out of my bank account or I don't get it.

ADDITION: Oh yeah I am a Republican (but don't vote straight ticket) so I guess I am one of those greedy little SOB's too.
